In the absense of branded merchandise from ‘Incredible India’, international tourists have no option but to purchase souvenirs from overpriced stores.

This project was created during an internship at Ogilvy, Delhi.
The merchandise is designed to be sold across airports and tourist spots.

The graphic illustrations used are inspired by the traditional folk arts of India. They were first hand drawn then scanned and digitized. For this exercise, three popular styles were chosen: Gond, Madhubani and Kalamkari.

The end result has a little more to say about India than the clichéd “Taj Mahal” or “elephant” marble miniatures.
